Right now, I'm watching some episodes of "General Hospital" that I've been taping since last week. It's the 50th anniversary of that show and they're doing the Annual Nurses' Ball episodes that are always good entertainment. I can honestly say that I have been watching GH off and on since it began 50 years ago. My mother was an avid fan, and when I was home, she would always be watching it at 3:00 P.M. every week-day afternoon. In those days, Dr. Steve Hardy, Audrey, and Jessie were the main characters. And of course, the Quartermain's were then headed by Edward and Lila. After I got married and had children, I was usually home every afternoon at 3:00, so I rarely missed a show. I LOVED Luke and Laura and Robert Scorpio and Holly (and then Anna). I watched little Robin grow up to be a beautiful young lady and eventually leave the show - at least for a few years. Rick Springfield, Jack Wagner, Antonio Sabato, Jr., John Stamos, and a number of others got their acting starts on that show. And I was right there watching every episode! Remember when Elizabeth Taylor appeared on the show as the evil Helena Cassodine? I even took a small portable TV to work on the day Luke and Laura got married. LOL! This was all before the days of Tivo, DVR's, and even VCR's, so if you weren't there to watch it, you never saw it at all. There are no re-runs on soap operas.
Today Luke and Laura are again dealing with the Cassodine's, trying to find their kidnapped daughter Lulu. Some things never change! Although Luke and Laura are no longer married to each other, their bond still remains. Anthony Geary and Genie Frances made GH so popular with their escapades years ago, and I was totally caught up in it. It really is the only soap opera I've watched, and I really don't watch it anymore, but I thought I would watch it for a while because this is a special year for them. Some things are still predictable in good old Port Charles - most of the main characters are still around, just a few years older - and so am I!
The writer speaks of the common occurences in the life of anyone who scrapbooks regularly and finds that she (or he) has spent more on scrapbooking tools than on food for the family. There are musings about a hobby that creates a mess wherever you work at it, and as long as there are unscrapped photographs anywhere in the house, it never ends. And there are always new and wonderful products coming out that one HAS to have!
About Me
- Judy G.
- I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.
I'm So Glad You Stopped By
