HAD A WONDERFUL, BUT SHORT, VISIT WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN AND DAUGHTERS

This past week-end, as I said previously, we went to visit with our daughters and their families.  They were all together at our youngest daughter's house in Mt. Juliet.  My husband and I, wisely, got a motel in town.  It did have a pool, so everyone was invited to come to the pool for an afternoon swim, which they did.  Nuts!  Those photos are in my camera, so I'll have to post them tomorrow, but here are a couple of pictures that were sent to me by iPhone:

 

This is our youngest daughter with her son, Eli (on the left) and daughter Abby (above) and Cade (on the right).  Cade is our oldest daughter's son.  They were on a shopping trip.  You can tell Eli was loving it.  Ha!

 

 

This lovely lady (with the skunk hair,  as Cade described her) is Joanne Cash,  Johnny Cash's sister, who was waiting to get on a plane at the Nashville airport, and was apparently on their flight to Atlanta.  Cade couldn't take his eyes off her.  I'm sure you can see why.  She was very nice to pose for a picture with him, though.

 

Anyway, we all had a great time together, but we were glad to get home.

OFF TOMORROW TO VISIT ALL THE GRANDKIDS IN MT. JULIET

I'll be away from my computer and all my toys for the week-end, because we're going to be leaving for Mt. Juliet (near Nashville) early tomorrow.  It takes nearly 3 hrs., but we'll spend the night and most of the day tomorrow with them.  Our oldest daughter came up with her son too, so we'll all be together in one place at the same time - which is a rare thing.  My husband and I are going to stay in a convenient motel, so we can get a good night's sleep and avoid some of the nightime chaos of getting all the kids settled down to sleep.  I will write you all when we get home on Sunday

OUR OLDEST GRANDSON TURNS 13

We went to Mt. Juliet this week-end to celebrate our oldest grandson, Benjamin, turning 13 - a true teenager now!   His football team was taking part in a Jamboree.  Actually, he turns 13 this coming week, but since school has already started, his family celebrated this week-end.  He's such a great kid, and he was our first, and only, grandchild for over 6 years.  He calls us "Grammy" and "Papaw", and we just thought the sun  rose and set with him when he was a little guy.  Now we have three more grandchildren, and everyone of them is just as special.  What does the world hold for the children of today?  I pray that he is prepared to battle the temptations and disappointments of the teen years and chooses his friends carefully.  Benjamin plays football, but right now he is mostly warming the bench, and I know he longs to be out on the field.  But we must keep our mouths shut, and let things work out as they will, when what I'd really like to do is throttle the coach until he gives all the boys a chance to play.  It was a jamboree, and he could have done that.  Those are the kinds of disappointments that he has to learn to deal with, I guess.
