About Me

My photo
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

STILL CROPPIN' AWAY

I am still here at Whispering Winds with 8 other ladies scrappin' away.  I didn't have all my Cape Cod vacation photos developed, so I took the rest of them this afternoon over to Walgreen's to get them done.  Now at least I can get them all in the album - just leaving tons of journaling to do.  That's my least favorite part, of course.  While I was going through all the photos on my flash drive, I found LOADS of pics of the grandchildren that I had never developed (or maybe forgot I had developed them already), so I had those printed off too.  There were three times as many of those as I had vacation photos!  Those will have to be taken care of another time, I fear.

Tomorrow is my last day here, as I want to be home on Sunday, and I'm sure my husband is ready for me to come home too.  Our new TV has arrived, and it's going to be hooked up on Monday.  We're both looking foreward to that.  And then, I am through traveling for the year.  I'm ready to stay home and continue to work on my craft room, which will always be an on-going project.  I will make a video or two of the projects I've worked on here.  I just can't do it with everyone else working around on their things - too much noise.  I must say, we have eaten well.  We've all taken turns fixing lunches and dinners, and each one has been better than the next.  Tonight we had pork barbeque, coleslaw, rolls, corn salad, and then frozen pistachio ice cream pie with graham cracker crust for dessert.  It was marvelous!  Here come anothe 5 lbs., I can feel it.  Here's a picture of today's lunch spread:

Our cooks were Sharon and Kathleen.

SCRAPBOOK RETREAT NEWS AND PROJECTS

I have been up here in Sevierville at Whispering Winds Scrapbook Retreat since Tuesday working on various scrapbooking projects, and one of the ones I'm working on is the Brag Book Daily Planner by Fancy Pants that I posted the vidoes on from My Craft Channel.  I have the kit, and I've been working right along with the video, as you can see:

I pretty much tried to follow right along with the videos, but I did end up using some of my own papers too.  It's a pretty neat book and is divided into 12 separate sections.  I'm starting with the month of August, since I've taken quite a few pictures and gone some places.  It's sort of a "decorate your pages as you go along" type project, but I think I'm going to like it.  I'll show you more as I go along.  There are nine of us ladies up here, all dedicated scrappers, and all of us are working on different projects.  My main project is scrapping the vacation we took to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard in Sept. 2010.  I am using a new system "Project Life", and I really like the divided pages.  There is very little embellisment - it's mostly paper and chipboard.  I'll do a video of it when I get home.

Also, our oldest grandson, Benjamin, turned 15 the other day, and now he has gotten his learner's driver's license.  He's so proud!  Congrats Ben!
