About Me

My photo
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

MY NEWEST MINI ALBUM, ALREADY SOLD.

I love making these albums for a friend of mine. Apparently everyone she knows is having babies, because she orders a lot of books from me. I am also selling some of my albums on Capturedonpaper.com. Take a look when you have time. All Of my grandchildren have started back to school. Our oldest grandson is actually going to University of Tennessee this fall and arrives to check into his dorm this week-end. Yikes! How the time does fly.

AN ALBUM FOR OLIVER JOSEPH

Hello again - and so soon. Will wonders never cease? I just finished and mailed off this new baby album (for a baby boy this time), and I wanted to let you see it. It's my standard video featured on my video series "An Album In A Day" done a few years ago. If you want to try making one of these albums, go back to the beginning of my blog, and they'll probably be on there, otherwise, look on my You Tube Channel on the 3rd list or so. I still have one more album to make, but I have the instructions memorized now, so I don't have to keep referring back to the pages. However, I'm thinking of trying another type of album soon. Anyway, if you have any questions, message me. Also, visit my Close To My Heart web site for specials going on there: http://justamidnightcropper.ctmh.com.

AN ALBUM FOR LUCY HOPE

I made this sweet little album for a new baby girl, and I made a video of it, so you could see it before it was mailed off. My Close To My Heart business is doing pretty well, and I had a successful party this afternoon at a scrapbook crop. I'm still not a very good stamper, but I love making the cards. Enjoy the video, and let me know what you think. I am going to start selling custom made mini albums in my Etsy shop for $35.00. If anyone is interested in an album made especially for you (or someone you want to give a gift to), let me know.

"GIVE A HOOT". MY NEW MINI BOOK

I have finished another really cute mini album.  It has no particular theme - it's just about summer and fun.  I found this paper called "Give A Hoot" by Papercrafting at Hobby Lobby, and all the papers went together so well that I just couldn't resist it.  I added the embellishments today, so I decided to post the pictures of it.  It's my standard mini, only I ditched the hidden hinge system and went back to regular hinges.  They're a little more trouble, but at least I know the pages are going to stay on.  It's for sale for $30, if anyone's interested.  Just leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

USING CRICUT CARTRIDGE "MINI ALBUMS", TUTORIAL #1

I love this fairly new Cricut cartridge "Mini Albums", and I wanted to share the making of this easy surprise mini that closes up to make a pretty box. I did this first video with my iPhone, and it cut off kind of early at the end, but you can get the idea of what I was doing. Hopefully this won't happen when I continue in Tutorial #2. Please feel free to leave any comment or suggestions.

INTO THE NEW YEAR WE GO!!

The start of a new year always brings on all sorts of feelings about turning over a new leaf, doing things that we should have done last year, etc.  Well, I've decided that I need to get rid of my birds - they're a lot of trouble, the cage is always in constant need of cleaning, and we had a rather discouraging breeding season this past year.  I have 12-14 finches in the cage, and they are very messy.  They're moulting, and feathers are all over the place - as well as seed, etc.  I've had them for a few years, and my husband would like for me to get them out of the house also.  So..... I have offered to sell the cage and the birds to a friend of mine for $250.00.  The cage is a glass enclosed piece of furniture (made of oak with claw feet - really quite beautiful).  My husband made it for me for Christmas years ago when I started keeping birds.  I do hate to part with it, but it does take up a large space in the living room, and, without the birds, I have no use for it.  I guess you could say that I'm moving on.  I did make a deal with him that I could have one little blue parakeet to keep me company.

In three days I'm going to a 4 days crop.  Five or six of us will be staying in an old Victorian house that is set up for scrapbooking.  It has special lights at each spot with electrical plugs and nice large office-type chair to sit in - quite nice.  There are also bedrooms on three levels and a full kitchen.  It'll be so nice to just get away for a few days from these constant household chores of cleaning up after the Holidays.  At least I did get the tree and decorations down and put up.  I probably won't have Internet access, so it might be a few days before you hear from me after I leave.  I hope to work on a mini album for my Christmas pictures and also one of the kits I purchased from Kathy Orta at Paper Phenomenon.  I think I'll work on the February 2012 kit.  Talk to you later.
