About Me

My photo
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

IT'S MONARCH CATERPILLAR TIME AGAIN!

Every summer I raise milkweed plants to attract the Monarch butterflies to our yard, and this year we have had pretty good luck. I've found a number of good-sized caterpillars on our plants and here is a video of two of them that are going through their very interesting life cycle. I hope they both successfully turn into healthy Monarch butterflies. Sorry for the poor quality of the video, but my little Flip camer just isn't up to the task.

I HAVE LITTLE MONARCH CATERPILLAR BABIES!

This is a picture of my second Monarch caterpillar. He doubles his size about every 2 days, and I try to keep him fed with milkweed leaves. Apparently that's the only thing they'll eat, and we don't have a lot of milkweed around here. Fortunately, I was able to buy some plants online! I have great hopes of hatching out some Monarach butterflies.

A BOY AND HIS BUTTERFLIES

Our 6 year old grandson Cade made this You Tube video telling you more than you'd ever need to know about raising Monarch butterflies. It's a really cute video.
