I must confess that these winter days have gotten me down. Here in Teneessee we don't usually have such miserable, depressing, cold days, but this winter has been the exception. I have had 2 bad colds withing the past month, which have slowed me down considerably. My husband and I have spent many a day recently sitting in our living room in our lounge chairs doing nothing but watching
TV all day and evening long. Thanks goodness daylight savings time starts this week-end. At least it won't be getting dark so early after that.
On a bright note, I did get in on the HSN launch of the new Cricut Explore. I got it last week, but I haven't done anything with it yet. I've been spending a lot of time on You Tube watching tutorials, so that I'll know how to work it when I do finally get up the nerve to turn the thing on. Then I will finally get around to making some more videos. My craftroom is in fairly good shape now, and I have a new table, so I have no excuse. Please stay with me, and I hope to get back to my old self again.
The writer speaks of the common occurences in the life of anyone who scrapbooks regularly and finds that she (or he) has spent more on scrapbooking tools than on food for the family. There are musings about a hobby that creates a mess wherever you work at it, and as long as there are unscrapped photographs anywhere in the house, it never ends. And there are always new and wonderful products coming out that one HAS to have!
About Me
- Judy G.
- I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

LIFE IS NOW BACK TO NORMAL
I am home now, and it's like I was never gone, you know what I mean? Haven't you been on vacation, had a great time, and then when you get home and look around your house at the same furniture, the same kitchen, the same EVERYTHING, it's just like your vacation never happened. Well, that's how I feel. It's kind of depressing. I want to feel rejuvinated and filled with energy - I certainly got enough rest! But instead, I feel kind of depressed, which, in itself, is depressing.
My sweet mother-in-law, who lives down the hill from us, just turned 96 this past week, and, just since I have been gone, she has gone rapidly downhill mentally. It could be senile dementia, but the rapidity of it worries me. It's kind of unusual for something like this to progress this quickly, and I fear that she might have something more serious going on. We are taking her to the doctor this Thursday, but at 96, are we going to put her through MRI's and that kind of thing? She wouldn't want that. Right now she doesn't even know that the house she's staying in is her own. So sad.

THE OFFICIAL END OF SUMMER
Even though the weather is still hot, the days are getting shorter, and I'm feeling some fall in the air in the early mornings. I hate it!! I am not a winter person. Here in east Tennessee, the winter days are gray, damp, and dreary - as well as cold. Last year was the coldest winter I can remember in a long time, and we certainly had our fair share of snow. Of course, it's not like we have to put up with the weather that Chicago or Minnesota has, but the sun just doesn't shine much, and I get depressed. We do still have fall to go, though, and that's usually pretty with nice, crisp weather, but after Thanksgiving, it's all down hill. Even Christmas has gotten to be such a hassle that you can't enjoy it. I sound like The Grinch, don't I? What I'd really like to do is spend about 6 weeks down in Florida with my oldest daughter and her family, but, now that I'm going to be working part-time, I probably won't be able to do that. I'm going to be doing prn industrial nursing at one of the ALCOA Aluminum Co. plants here in our area. The pay is good, and I'll get to pick the days and shifts I want to work. I'm leaning towards the 3-11 P.M. shift. That way I won't have to cook supper. LOL! I do plan to keep doing my paper projects, though.
I hope you all have a safe and fun Labor Day week-end. Until next time.....
