About Me

My photo
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

ON MARTHA'S VINEYARD

Well, here we are, touring Martha's Vineyard. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous, and we have certainly over-packed for cold weather! It is bright, sunny, and fairly warm. Although in the mornings a sweater does feel good. We spent all day today touring the island and it's major villages. I took quite a few pictures, so hopefully you can see some of them. The houses here are so quaint (and terribly expensive). Here are some pics:

This is the view from our hotel this A.M. Now for another:

This is my DH eating his third bowl of New England Clam chowder since we've been here.

This is our hotel tonight and last night in Edgartown. I didn't write last night because I was just to tired, but this afternoon I was able to take a nap. Talk to you later

I'M PACKING MY BAGS.

We  are leaving out of Nashville on this Thursday A.M. (bright and early) headed for Boston Logan, and then on to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket.  I am totally ready for this vacation!!  Remember, it was delayed for 3 weeks because of Hurricane Irene, but now the weather looks favorable, and the trip is on.  I have a small wireless notebook I'm taking with me, so I can blog each night and let everyone know what we're doing.  My laundry is up-to-date, my pets are taken care of, and I'm about all packed.  So, wish me luck and I'll keep in touch.  No crafting though.  I'll miss that.  Oh yes, I am also coming down with a nasty cold - wouldn't you know!

HERE SHE COMES - HURRICANE IRENE!!

My daughter in Florida is preparing for a hurricane this week, and my husband and I are planning on leaving for the first good vacation we've taken in 3 years.  We have plans to go on a bus tour of Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod, and Nantucket for a whaling cruise.  Now all I can think of is this stupid hurricane that is supposed to come up the east coast of the U.S. this week-end - right when we leave for the coast of Massachuttes.  Is fate going to put us on a collision path with this hurricane?  I can just see us trying to take a whaling cruise in 10 foot seas!!  Of course,  we just have to wait and see what course this storm takes, but what a huge disappointment it will be if we have crappy weather the whole time we're gone.  I've bought a little notebook-size laptop to take with me, so I can keep up with my blog while we're on the trip.  Hopefully I'll get some good pictures.  Hopefully the sun will shine.  Hopefully Hurricane Irene will just turn in another direction and head out to sea.  My family in Florida will be fine because it's not a bad storm right now, just a lot of rain.  But it could strengthen if it stays just off-shore and goes up the east coast.  If that happens, I think I'll just stay home and scrap.
