About Me

My photo
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

A MOST WONDERFUL SCRAPBOOK RETREAT!

Here I am back in Sevierville, TN, at our semi-annual scrapbook retreat at Whispering Winds.  The last time I was here I had to drive up in January during a terrrible snow storm, but this week has been gorgeous for August.  Not rainy and not too hot.  There are only 5 of us up here all week, but some others are going to drop in here and there for a day or so.  I have worked on a scrapbook for our trip to Hiwassee, GA, with our two daughters and their families, but all the pictures aren't printed out, so I couldn't finish it.  For the most part I have been doing cards.  We have a Stampin' Up consultant up here, and an former Anna Griffin Design Team member, so I've really learned a lot of new techniques and made some new cards.  I've taken a picture of one of them, but it's not very good.  I'll try to do a better job tomorrow.  The card I've posted tonight is a 3D rose.  I cut 4 different layers of one rose and pop-dotted them to make the flower dimensional.  Then to make it a little fancier, I glittered around all the petals and then outlined the matting with Perfect Pearls.  You can't see the glitter very well, but it really makes the card.

Oops!  I didn't mean to post two of them.  Oh well, enjoy.  I'm going to bed.  Judy

SCRAPBOOK RETREAT NEWS AND PROJECTS

I have been up here in Sevierville at Whispering Winds Scrapbook Retreat since Tuesday working on various scrapbooking projects, and one of the ones I'm working on is the Brag Book Daily Planner by Fancy Pants that I posted the vidoes on from My Craft Channel.  I have the kit, and I've been working right along with the video, as you can see:

I pretty much tried to follow right along with the videos, but I did end up using some of my own papers too.  It's a pretty neat book and is divided into 12 separate sections.  I'm starting with the month of August, since I've taken quite a few pictures and gone some places.  It's sort of a "decorate your pages as you go along" type project, but I think I'm going to like it.  I'll show you more as I go along.  There are nine of us ladies up here, all dedicated scrappers, and all of us are working on different projects.  My main project is scrapping the vacation we took to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard in Sept. 2010.  I am using a new system "Project Life", and I really like the divided pages.  There is very little embellisment - it's mostly paper and chipboard.  I'll do a video of it when I get home.

Also, our oldest grandson, Benjamin, turned 15 the other day, and now he has gotten his learner's driver's license.  He's so proud!  Congrats Ben!
