About Me

My photo
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

OUR VISITORS HAVE HAD A ROUGH TIME GOING CAMPING!

Cade's Mommy and Daddy finally made it up here in their new RV - after breaking down in Valdosta, GA and having to spend an extra day there waiting for a new starter to come in and be installed.  Cade was all excited for their arrival, and then was very disappointed at the delay.  He was glad to see them when they got here, though!  Laura and Brian arrived on Saturday, and on Monday they left to go camping in the foothills of the Smokies at a nice campground for three days.  On Tuesday, my husband and I drove to the campground to spend the night with them.  We got there a little before 4:00 P.M., and at 4:15, Laura stepped in a ditch near the river and broke three bones in her left foot.  So, she and I spent 4 hours in the hospital ER back in town while my husband, her husband, and Cade grilled fresh fish on the fire and had a delicious dinner.  We ended up going back to our house so she could get comfortable and get some sleep - leaving the menfolk to fend for themselves.  I guess they had a good time, and we were glad to go home and sleep.  We did go back to the campgrounds the next morning, and Laura proceeded to continue with her camping experience for another day - with a huge splint and ace bandages on her lower left leg.  They stayed another day and finally drove back to our house this noon.  She's in good spirits and now has a "leg scooter", which I'd never seen.  It's cool.  She can rest her knee on a "seat" with her foot pointing backwards, and then push it along like a scooter with her other leg.  It also has hand brakes, which come in quite handy when she gets to going too fast.  It's been a very intesting few days, and we're all pooped.

Tonight we all went to see the movie "Despicable Me 2" in 3D.  It was silly and clever, and Cade loved it.  So goes our summer.  I hope yours has been a pleasant one.  I need a rest!
