About Me

My photo
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

HAD A GREAT TIME VISITING FRIENDS IN WEST VIRGINIA

My husband and I treated ourselves to a trip to a bed and breakfast in the lovely mountains of West Virginia this past week-end.  Some old friends of ours from Florida (about 40 years ago) now own and run the Nostalgia Inn B&B in Pipestem, WV, so we decided to make reservations for 2 nights and surprise them.  And they were surprised!  I don't think they paid any attention to the names on the reservation, since I made it on-line, and when we showed up, they almost fell over in surprise.  It was only a 3 3/4 hr. car ride from where we live, but it was rainy, so we were glad to get there.  Anyway, we had never been to West Virginia, and it was lovely.  The mountains there are a bit different than the Great Smokies, which we are used to - more deciduous trees like maples, elm, poplar, and fewer pine trees.  We have a lot of pine trees on our mountains.

As it turned out, we were their only guests for the week-end, and we stayed in the Greenbrier room:

That's my husband sitting at the pretty desk in our room.  It got cold overnight our first night, and the next day, although it wasn't raining, it was overcast, and the highs were only in the 40's and 50's.  We did go sightseeing.  Our first stop was to tour a coal mine in Beckley, WV, and I'll tell you about that next time.
