One Hour Away From the New Year

As this year 2010 is about to come to a close, I think back on what it has meant to me.  I have made many new friends through Cricut Circle and my scrapbooking hobby, and I have seen how creative others can be, and they inspire me!  For the first time in my adult life I do not have a job, and this has been a source of stress, as well as a time for contemplation.  I worry about whether I should be actively seeking employment, but at the same time, I don't feel guilty that I'm not.  I am 66 1/2 years old, and I have worked constantly since I was 22, except for the one year I took off to raise children.  My husband has been retired for nearly 15 years and collecting social security for 13 of those years.  All the while, I went to work full time 4 days a week as a nurse, getting up early while he stayed in bed until he felt like getting up.  Do you detect a teeny little bit of resentment in my words?  I must admit, I have resented that, and I feel that I have earned my retirement - even if I do have to curtail my spending A LOT.  So far I have not done a very good job, and now that unemployment has been extended, I might get a few more months' reprieve.  But I have faith that it will all work out.  As long as Cricut doesn't come out with any more machines that I can't live without, I should be able to "make do" with my Gypsy, my Expression, and my Imagine - at least that's what I keep telling myself.
